The actor,Paul Walker, died at the age of 40. He was at the height of his career, starring as Brian O’Connor in a highly successful movie series featuring the risks and thrills of street racing – "The Fast and Furious". The irony is that he died in a single-car crash when he was the passenger. His Porsche collided into a street-pole and nearby trees, and burst into flames.
Athletic with blond hair and blue eyes, Mr. Walker often played the action figure or the romantic interest. He starred in six of the seven "The Fast and Furious" movies, often alongside the action star Vin Diesel, who had become a close friend.
Paul Walker started acting at a young age, and had a few prominent parts in the late 1990s, playing supporting roles in the films "Pleasantville", "Varsity Blues", and "She’s All That".
Mr. Walker was raised as a Mormon and was the eldest of five children. He shied away from the tabloids, and stayed away from the Hollywood party scene. He didn’t want to live in Hollywood, and settled instead in Santa Barbara. The people that knew him said that he didn’t feel entirely at ease in the limelight. He once commented, “I’ve always been one foot in, one foot out of this game, because I’m not comfortable with being on the pedestal or the poster.” “That’s just not who I am. I’m more like the grunt. I want to be the guy behind the guy.”
In the months before his death, he had made a priority of spending more time with his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow. She had lived in Hawaii with her mother for most of her life, but was now living with Mr. Walker. His legacy includes his keen interest in marine biology and environmental issues. He was a board member of The Billfish Foundation and spent time tagging great white sharks off the coast of Mexico. He also founded the humanitarian nonprofit charity Reach Out Worldwideto help earthquake survivors rebuild their lives. Paul William Walker gone too soon.
