Sridevi was a Bollywood superstar that died too soon, of accidental drowning, while attending a family wedding. She began her film career at the age of four, and transitioned into adult roles by the age of 13 in the film “Moondru Mudichu.”
Her talent was enormous, as she performed in almost 300 films, with some of her best performances showing in “Sadma,” “Chand,” “ChaalBaaz,” “English, Vinglish, and “Mom.”
Sridevi was extremely discreet and very private. She rarely gave interviews. Onscreen she often portrayed strong, vivacious, and exuberant women, but she was extremely introverted and reserved. She has been described as painfully shy and quiet, but in front of a camera she transformed herself into a force of nature that captured the hearts and minds of all that watched her films.
Sridevi is regarded as one of the greatest female film stars in India. Her acting ability, particularly in comedic roles, and her skills as a dancer made her the beguiling goddess of cinema.
Her death came too soon, and it was a tragedy that shocked India. In a highly exceptional move, the actress was given a full state funeral, usually reserved only for prime ministers and leading statesmen.
Sridevi greatly loved, greatly missed – now In Heaven with the Stars.
